I wanted to welcome everyone to the NC Shooting Sports message board. Here is where we all can talk about guns, matches, gear or what ever comes to mind.
I will start off, I am Ken, I am in Raleigh and I am pretty much addicted to shooting sports. I shoot IDPA, USPSA and ZSA on a regular basis and I ahve even competed in ICORE. My favorite division to shoot is Single Stack in USPSA, where I have a Springfield 1911 in 40 S&W, that is highly modified with all kinds of goodies and CDP in IDPA, where I have a Taurus PT1911 in 45.
I first started shooting a Glock G22, where I did pretty good, but I always wanted a 1911, and fell in love with it so I have been shooting that since. Every once in a while you may find me out with my Beretta 92FS, or the G22, and starting next week I may bring out my S&W Model 28 Revo and shoot ZSA, just to have some fun.
well I look forward to talking with everyone about this great sport, see everyone down range...

Well I am on the coast of NC, and got into shooting with SASS. I moved on to add IDPA, USPSA, and occasional Steel Challenge. The common thread in all of them is that I use .45 Colt revolver in all of them, as I reload that caliber.
I use a Ruger Alaskan (.45 Colt/.454 Casull) in IDPA, USPSA, and Steel Challenge. I am a Range Officer in USPSA and a Safety Officer in IDPA.
Oddly enough shooting sports are not my primary hobby. I am a competitive olympic style fencer, who has competed in 10 of the last 11 US Fencing Nationals. I am on my way to the 2011 US Fencing Nationals this July.
I am a rated director (referee) in two of the three fencing weapon divisions (Foil and Epee).
As you can see I have a full plate of hobbies, along with holding down a 40 hours a week job.

Still working on that. I think that the zombies have conspired against me. I'll be passing through the area heading to the NC USPSA Match and the East Coast IDPA Match this fall. I'm working on getting some friends of mine into USPSA and IDPA, so I have been focusing on local matches to ease them in. Hopefully I'll have them ready to go to the East Coast IDPA Match by October. Maybe once they are hooked a zombie match will be in the future for me and my two friends.

Welcome Blueridge
Maybe you can get a car pool goign and bring some of your friends out to the next ZSA match. Next week 7/16 is the Zombie 3 gun match at The Range in Oxford.
If you do not have all three you can run about 5 out of 7 stages of the match as Pistol only. It is a great time, John puts on a great match.

Blueridge, I have a TON of commercial cast .45 Colt 250 grain bullets that I am trying to sell for a friend who closed his business recently. Please let me know if you are interested and I will count them out for you (have half a steel barrel full) Hope you are well, John Z Sr
